Biological sciences

The Degree Program in Biological sciences has a limited access.

In order to enrol, students must pass a selection.

The admission test is for Biotechnology and Biological sciences.

Sign up or log in to the Alice portal by 25 August 2024:

  1. In order to sign up you will be asked to insert details about your Health Insurance card (tessera sanitaria) and your tax code (codice fiscale)
  2. You will have to upload a scanned copy of your Identity Document and a passport-sized photograph
  3. Once you entered your personal area, please select “Secretariat” and then “Admission Test”
  4. Once you have completed the registration, a receipt of registration to the admission test with a unique number will be available

To participate in the selection it is necessary to have taken the TOLC-B test provided by CISIA by 25 August 2024 carried out in presence or online (at home) at any university.

The TOLC-B may be taken more than once; in any case, the result of the last test taken on or after 1 January 2024 and by 25 August 2024 will be considered valid for selection purposes.

The results of the TOLC are automatically acquired by the university.

The test consists of 50 multiple choice questions, each with several possible answers of which only one is correct.

The test is divided into four sections:

  1. Basic mathematic- 20 questions- time available: 50 minutes;
  2. Biology- 10 questions- time available: 20 minutes;
  3. Physics- 10 questions- time available: 20 minutes;
  4. Chemistry- 10 questions- time available: 20 minutes.

There is also a section involving a test of English language knowledge, the score of which does not count towards the ranking, therefore it is optional to take it.

For each questions the following score is assigned:

  • 1 point for each correct answer;
  • – (minus) 0.25 points for each incorrect answer;
  • 0 points for each answer not given.

The duration of the test is 110 minutes.

The merit rankings will be formulated on the basis of the overall score obtained.

In the event of a tie in total points, the following shall prevail, in order:

  1. Highest mark obtained in the questions relating to Biology
  2. Highest mark in the Basic Mathematics questions
  3. Highest mark in the Chemistry questions
  4. Highest mark in the Physics questions

In the event of a further tie, the youngest candidate prevails.
