SYLLABUS OF REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

READING COMPREHENSION AND KNOWLEDGE OF ITALIAN LANGUAGE

The questions in the “Reading comprehension” section are aimed at verifying a good command of Italian regarding comprehension as well as different types of language use. There will be three types of texts: literary, essayistic and journalistic. The questions regarding these texts will enable us to test your essential grammatical skills (morphological and syntactic), to establish whether you possess a sufficiently rich vocabulary, as well as inferential skills, the ability to grasp hierarchical relationships and establish formal and semantic links between the different parts of the text, and the ability to decode implicit assumptions.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ACQUIRED DURING STUDIES

The questions in the “Knowledge and Skills” section are not principally aimed at verifying whether you possess knowledge on the different subjects, but instead focus on verifying your ability to reason, starting from the examples given, by categorization, identification, recognition of semantic, chronological and spatial relationships, and extrapolation of information from different types of documents. The questions will cover four macro-areas: 1) orientation in time and space; 2) documents, texts and material culture; 3) theories, concepts and civilian life; 4) tools and communication.

LOGICAL REASONING

The questions in the Logical Reasoning section are aimed at testing the candidates’ aptitudes rather than verifying the knowledge acquired during their studies. They do not therefore require specific preliminary preparation.

2) Optional Section- English knowledge test

This part of the test will be taken after the Compulsory Section. It consists of 30 questions and the time available is 15 minutes. The score is not part of the overall mark. Wrong answers are not penalized and the score is determined by 1 point for correct answers and 0 points for wrong or unanswered responses.

Passing this test will result in a reduction of part of the “cfus” required in the “Laboratorio di lingua inglese” (the English Language Laboratory).

N.B. For organizational reasons, those who do not intend to take the English knowledge test will be able to leave the classroom only after the other participants have completed it (15 minutes after completing the compulsory Common Section)
